believe me or not but you and i will become patients, either sooner or later.
being a doctor, i notice that some basic patients right are taken for granted. for example, the right for privacy, its so unethical for other health practitioner to totally forget this. you see especially in the emergency room when people are resuscitated and nobody cared about their privacy, isnt this more insult when you have a dying man, stripped naked for all the world to see?
well, you will realize that when you become patient yourself.
i know that our facilities especially in public hospital are not ideal, but it doesnt mean that we will not do what is close to ideal. these are litlle things that doesnt need advance facilities, its only a matter of awareness and being sensitive to the needs of the patient. ive worked in a government hospital, several times im guilty of this one, but later i realized that what it needs is an inch of care. a little step of protecting patients right, because sooner or later, we will become that patient too.
